How To Find An On-Campus Job At UC Irvine

Contributed by UC Irvine student writer Alexia Salzano.

Have you ever considered working? What about working on campus?

If you responded “YES” to either of these questions, today’s blog will help you find the necessary information and tools to apply for a job on campus.

At UCI, there are a multitude of on-campus jobs that will help you gain work experience and build your resume. The tools we will be discussing below will help you whether you want to work in a library, dining hall, or an administrative office.

To begin, let’s clarify the types of on campus jobs. UCI’s campus jobs can be classified as “work-study” or “non-work-study,” where work-study is a program that gives eligible students the opportunity to gain work experience and earn money. A non-work-study job is a campus job that does not require a work-study award.

Handshake

All current UCI students have a Handshake account and can log in with their UCINetID and password. Handshake is an incredibly easy platform to use. Students can use Handshake to:

  1. Discover internship opportunities relating to their major

  2. Find on and off-campus internships specifically for UCI students

  3. Connect with employers and prior student workers

  4. Enroll in career workshops and labs to expand their knowledge on job opportunities

  5. Save searches for future use

Division of Career Pathways

UCI’s Division of Career Pathways (DCP) is an employment center on campus that aims to educate and engage UCI students and alumni in realizing their career goals and potential. Students can use the DCP to:

  1. Find career resources across campus.

  2. Attend fairs, workshops, strategy sessions and more.

  3. Find internships, jobs, upcoming workshops and events.

Additional Resources

Besides Handshake and the Division of Career Pathways, students can apply for job openings all around campus. From the Anteater Recreation Center (ARC) to UCI Libraries, there are usually multiple job openings available. Below are links to each additional employment resource:
