ASUCI, For the Anteaters, By the Anteaters
ASUCI, or Associated Students of UCI, affectionately referred to by many student as just AS, represents our student body as our government on campus. They connect us as students to the university by holding our university sponsored events, as well as presenting student propositions to the administration of UCI.
Each office has a lot of different things to offer the students here at UCI. The first office is that of the President, and under the office of the President there are commissions such as Campus Climate, Mental Health, Research, and Housing. Each commission is mandated to present budgets, plan events, and come up with service plans related to the commissions’ title to help advance and make greater the student experience at UCI.
Within each commission there are many offices. For example, there are offices that handle the academic life of students by being peer jury members during cases of academic dishonesty, offices that organize campus concerts, host spirit rallies, and promote the talents of students. With all these commissions and offices we also need people to make the rules for them, and for students, in regard to our rights as students. So for that we have commissions that act as our judiciary boards, legislative senate, and help us run student elections.
ASUCI commissions are always in need of students to help them, so AS constantly recruits interns every quarter to help make every plan go forward without a problem. They need a variety of interns too. So no matter what major or interest or gender or year you are, they’ll take your application and if they see potential for leadership they’ll take you!
